Happy 1st Easter JK

Wasn't feeling so hot last weekend so I just got a few pictures of little JK on her first Easter...

Turn off the tv week

Tomorrow, April 2o, begins turn off the tv week at Oxbow Creek Elementary. Who thinks up this stuff? Obviously someone CRAZY who FORGOT what it was like to have kids under 5 at home all day LONG.

I am seriously not going to survive.

Continuing Ed... mom style

I have the feeling today that I don't have the skills necessary to excel at my current job.

Example#1: Walking into El Toro (didn't make dinner- first failure) I failed to explain why Bakugans can't be resurrected (don't know how Bakugan lore relates to doctrine of resurrection- second failure).

Example #2: I will have 8 kids 7 and under in my house tomorrow for preschool (I must be insane to have agreed to this- first failure) and I need to find a sugar cookie recipe (don't have one yet- second failure) and I am blogging instead of finding one (third failure)!!!

Does anyone have a Bakugan manual and/or Gospel Principles manual I can borrow???
Or perhaps an really good sugar cookie recipe???
(Actually I know Katrina does, so I am going directly to her blog where I saw it.... I promise.)
Can you imagine what would be taught at mom CE? Wow. That would be intense.

The Future is as Bright as your Faith

We had a really good weekend watching General Conference. It was pretty awesome to sit as a family and sustain the prophet of our times, President Thomas S. Monson, and the 12 apostles. We also got to sustain a new apostle, Neil L. Anderson who grew up in Idaho!! (Those Idahoans are good stock I tell ya!) Curtis told the boys that he (Neil Anderson) will probably be an apostle for a big part of their lives, and they can remember the day that they raised their hand and sustained him. He said this as Jonah was hanging upside down off his lap and talking to ANNEX DOODY BABES (yes she has another nickname!!) and Eli was laying on the couch mumbling something about how he wants Bakugans and more Lego sets when it is HIS birthday. Ethan may have actually been listening!
There were several messages that I felt touched by, but my favorite was Pres. Monson's talk in the Sunday am session. He started about talking about how things are not as we wish we they would be. He talked about the troubles that we all face. Then he told a story about a woman in Germany who was a refugee in Word War 2, and had to travel alone with her 4 children to Prussia, over 1000 miles away. Her husband had died in the war, and along the way each of her four children died as well. This woman's children were the same ages as my four children. She buried each of them along the way. Stories like this help me to remember my blessings and be so grateful for what I have been given. He said that it is easy to focus on everything around us that is going wrong, but we need to remember our blessings and the good things in our lives. He said that we can't let doubt and fear cripple us. Then my favorite line: The future is as bright as your faith. If we believe that the future is bright, it will be. If we see it as dark and dreary, it will be.

Feet on the wood

Curtis mentioned that he had tickets a few weeks ago for a T-wolves game. I forgot about it until he reminded me Monday, the game was Tuesday!! So thankfully Sandy was able to come and watch the kids while we went. Literally these are the best seats I will probably ever sit it. Knowing that your toes could be squished at any moment by an NBA basketball player is something that people will pay alot of money for I guess. It was just plain awesome really. I wish I could remember whose feet are in the picture with ours; one of them is from S. Dakota and totally needed a haircut, the other is a Mavericks player.

Grandma and Grandpa Tanner!

Mom and Dad drove for 2 1/2 days to see these kids. We had a wonderful time. Too bad it was so short! Mom reading Eli the Usborne Encyclopedia... this kid is addicted to an encyclopedia??!!! Where did this one come from?

One of the best memories of this trip was Sunday night, after the big birthday bash. Everyone had left except the grandmas and grandpas. We had a family prayer with everyone, and then a big group hug afterward, which we always do as a family after prayer. But having Curt and Sandy and Patty and John there with us was so special! Thanks for coming to see us mom and dad!!

Two lines

Me: Honey, you need to go look at something... on the back of the toilet upstairs...
Curtis: What?? What's wrong?
Me: You need to go look now.
Curtis: walks quickly upstairs with a puzzled look.
Comes back down the stairs.
Curtis: Is that yours?
Me: yup
Curtis: Whose is it? ( He's thinking: whose CHILD is it)
Me: (I'm thinking the TEST) It's mine!!
Jonah: It's MINE!!! It's MINE!!!
Ha
Curtis: Are you serious.
Me: I can't believe it.
Awkward silence
Curtis: Well... if those are the cards we're dealt... I'm fine. Are you ok?
Me: (whispering) I'm totally ok... because... it's APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!!

(Should have cast me as a lead in Fiddler on the Roof back in '94 Mr. Jenkins, cuz I've got it!)

128 Candles

Curtis, Kim, and Sandy all have March birthdays, so we were excited to celebrate them together this year! YAY! Between the three of them we needed 128 candles on the cake... I think we almost made it. Can you do the math to figure out how old they are??
