Ascendant Leader Award

Curtis received a really great award this spring, which got lost somewhere in between the crazy flights to Utah and back, and the laundry- always the laundry. Late last year, Curtis was invited to speak at the annual OB/HR conference in March. Just that alone was really cool. When he got a few phone calls from one of professors a few months later, he quickly got his presentation material submitted. But the reason for the call was actually to let him know that he had been nominated for a recognition award that he was going to be given at the conference. The amazing part was that Steven Covey would also be receiving an award at the same banquet. Sandy was able to fly out and take care of the kids for us.

                        Mom and Dave were able to drive down from Pocatello to be there. Steven Covey was              given the Dyer Distinguised Alumni Award.

Krisen DeTienne gave a very nice bio of Curtis and what he has been doing since he graduated in 2004.         She also made us the parents of 6 instead of 5! Oi vey!

                                                   Curtis said a few funny, humble words.

                           Grumpy had a duo fold mission in Utah- Curtis and new baby Juliet.

Paul and Jane were up for the weekend as well. We had so much fun bowling, eating, and just hanging out with everyone.

And best of all we got to be there for our new little niece's blessing. Juliet is so sweet. Good work Joel and Sara!! We also found out that Jane and Paul are expecting a baby in October!! Yay!!

50 Lange Annastraat

It has always been a dream of mine to see the tulip fields in Holland. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers of all time. When we lived in New Jersey, I bought something like 400 bulbs and planted them in the flower beds in the front of our house. We had lots of flower beds at that house, whew. You can imagine my sadness and the words that flew when the deer ate them all up before they were 3 inches high!! I did plant a few in MN but was worried that the same thing would happen, but they came up last year perfectly! Jill put a picture of them on FB for me this year. sniff. 

But... anyway we did make it to Holland, Stayed in Haarlem at Lange Anna. Ben, who let us in, told us that the house was 400 years old.

Those stairs were so steep and narrow that Janie cried the first 2 days we were there when she tried to come down. They were not deep enough for my whole foot, so I tiptoed them every time.

Funky shops abound - this was just down the street

Quirky old place, but they location was perfect. We spent alot of time just exploring Haarlem. The shops, Grote Markt, the square. Everything was a few minute walk from Lange Anna. There were 2 tv's there, but we couldn't get either of them to work, so we had very little screen time that way. It was kind of nice.
