Cornwall, March 2013

Long weekend to Cornwall! Curtis and I had been there in 2006 when we came to pick up Paul from his mission. It is such a beautiful part of England. We stayed in Sennen, in a cottage close to the beach. We got in about 9:30 pm, and we had to park in a car park, and then walk down a semi steep path to the cottage. It was DARK. And we had a bunch of sleeping kids and a pack and play to haul. It probably took us about 10 minutes to walk down to Tresilian (the name of our lovely cottage). I was carrying 2 backpacks, my camera, the pack and play, and my phone/flashlight. Jonah was helping Janie Kate, and at one point he turned around and was blinded by my flashlight, and fell down hard! The kids were troopers, they kept going, and we finally got there... and found a pack and play already waiting for us!!! We explored the gorgeous cottage, while Curtis made another trip to get the rest of our luggage. The kids hopped in the bath tub, and all was well. Next morning, I took the kids down to the beach. It was another steep hike, alongside a clear stream. Beautiful. The sun came out for about an hour and a half, and we enjoyed every second of it!

                                     

 We hiked back up the hill, cleaned the sand off our feet, and made our way to St. Micheal's Mount.

Dinner at the Last Pub in England, after a game of pool. I had fish pie and guess what? I really liked it! Imagine thick clam chowder, with chunks of tender fish, covered with mashed potatoes and cheese, and broiled. Hiked back down to Tresilian (in the dark again), and snuggled in with hot chocolate and digestives.

Roomies

Katrina Fuller and I met in September 1995 at Ricks College on Rexburg, Idaho. We were roommates and good friends for two years there. We both got married soon after that and hadn't seen each other in person since the summer of 2000. It was alot of fun to see Katrina and her kids in person, (i've seen pictures through the years) and introduce them to my kids. They hit it off right away, and had a great time swimming in our hotel pool. So glad we could reconnect after all these years, and who knows where these little while friends may meet in the future... Maybe roommates at BYU-I??

Vagabonds

We have slept in 8 different beds in the past 3 weeks. London to Mineapolis/St. Paul, Brooklyn Park to Hackensack and back. Brooklyn Park to North Dakota, Montana, and then to Island Park. Island Park to West Yellowstone a few times. Then from Island Park to Pocatello for a few days, and then Pocatello to Salt Lake. We are resting out heads in Orem for a few nights until we catch a flight to Heathrow, through Atlanta, on Friday. It has been a very busy, crazy three and a half weeks. We have loved having fun with family in Minnesota and Idaho. I think we are getting ready to get home and get back to a schedule, because everyone Curtis and I are getting cranky. We have had alot of family together time, especially in the car. Wish I could say I was excited to go back to London, but I am feeling sad about leaving the U.S. But, have a new, stronger resolve to take advantage of every opportunity to explore England. Driving anxiety be damned. I downloaded a Blogger app, so may be blogging from my phone, but if not, back to my friend imac on Saturday! Wish us luck getting through Olympic Cycling traffic.
