First Official Day of Summer Break

I am so exhausted. Today was a day with 5 kids home for summer vacation. I am with Mr. Carlson on this one- why do we need a summer break when kids don't have any part of helping take care of a farm ( my words not his, he used the phrase egregian society...). I am getting alot of chances to realize how impatient I am. I think I had to choose about 200 times to speak normally instead of YELL AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS BECAUSE NOBODY LISTENS TO ME. EVER. I did cry a few times though. Is that better than yelling? I don't know.
Good kids- our kids- are annoying. and slow. and mean sometimes (Is there a surefire way to help a 9 year old stop biting?) But I am trying very hard to look beyond that and see each of them as a person who is going to grow up and probably get over biting other kids, and be pretty normal. And that helped today. Not to mention constant prayer and scarfing chocolate in the pantry:)

Joyful Noise Jonah

Jonah had a fabulous year at Joyful Noise Preschool ... his third year in preschool!! It was super fun having him and Lola in the same class, Kim and I would often meet for lunch after one of us had picked up the kids. Jonah is totally a people person. One of the first days of preschool he really befriended Ethan Olsen (who is really shy and was having a hard time coming to preschool) and helped him stop crying. Jonah made alot of good friends this year. Even if we were late every single day:)

I think you're Wonderful!

Eli's all about me presentation to his class

Eli and Mrs. Johnson

Eli had such a wonderful first grade experience. His teacher was Heidi Johnson this year. Eli came into first grade having gone to KIP in kindergarten and then summer school after kindergarten for extra help. With Mrs. Johnson he has flourished and is right on target for 2nd grade. Not only did he have a good academic year, he had a great social year. Mrs. Johnson went above and beyond and gave Eli (and I) a lesson in being wonderful. Eli would often get a card in the mail, or a note during the school day that said: "Eli, I think you are wonderful" or "You are an amazing, incredible miracle." When a year like this ends, it brings tears to my eyes- tears of gratitude for a teacher who sees the potential in my Eli, and tears of sadness that his time with her is over. Thank you Mrs. J. for an absolutely wonderful year of first grade!

I think you're wonderful!

When somebody says it to me

I feel wonderful!

As wonderful can be

It makes we want to say

The same thing to somebody new

And by the way I've been meaning to say

I think you're wonderful too!
